A signed limited edition artwork by Bob Barker.
Inspired by the Yorkshire mill towns that shaped his youth, is known for his ‘Northern Impressionism’ style, and he has continued this with his latest collection bringing us ‘Tiddlers’ and Whacky Racers’. Depicting touching childhood, family and romantic scenes, his nostalgic and charming artworks feature his signature neutral palette of greys with splashes of vibrant colour and a unique inner glow created by the manipulation of light and shadow.
For this piece, the artist manipulated the palette slightly. With the progression of a muted palette, with black and white in transparent glazes to let the muted sepia tones shine through. In “Tiddlers”, he draws from his own life experiences which adds a new intimacy and dimension to this signed limited-edition.
“When I was a nipper, we used to catch little fish in the river called sticklebacks. Most of them had two spines on their back but sometimes they had more. We thought these ones were more special, the most I ever found was nine spines down its back. We thought we had discovered a new species, but in the end, they were like us – just tiddlers,” the artist explains.
This piece is hand varnished giclée on canvas and can also be purchased in a .
