A set of two hand-painted animation cels with lithograph background, signed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.
The first ever series created by legendary animation studio Hanna-Barbera, ‘The Ruff and Reddy Show’, aired from 1957-1960 and followed the adventures of Ruff the cat and Reddy the dog. It was groundbreaking at the time for its use of “limited animation” whereby animators would reuse and repaint old cels to create longer episodes and focus more on writing than production.
Hanna-Barbera Studios Inc. was founded in 1957 by the creators of Tom & Jerry, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The studio created some of the most iconic cartoons ever made including: The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, Wacky Races, Scooby-Doo, and many more. This set of two limited edition hand-painted cels pays homage to the original animators’ techniques where stills would be hand-drawn and painted onto acetate cels and set against separate painted backgrounds to create a snapshot from an entire scene.
