Fleeting Moment

From Birmingham’s iconic waterways to its family streets and historic landmarks, the magic of the UK’s second city is captured in Samuel’s debut collection, Street Life.  

His nostalgic scenes evoke the sense of flicking through a sketchbook. A former student at the Florence Academy of Art, Samuel prefers to work from studies rather than reference photography as it “keeps the work looser and truer”.  

Light is a focal point and evokes the atmosphere of each piece. He applies up to three layers of glaze to achieve a slightly mottled finish, giving his work an authentic feel.
