A handmade, studio edition wall sculpture by Nic Joly.
This handmade, studio edition wall sculpture by Nic joly was the first that he made as part of his 2021 collection . Born out of a time when we were all on edge, this beautiful piece reminds us of the time that also brought many of us closer together. The minimalist composition, featuring a real razor blade, is accentuated by small pops of red and yellow on the individually painted figures, and creates a beautifully simple artwork that we can all relate to.
For Summer 2021, Nic reflected on his experience of the last 65 weeks in the UK. He ponders that “When we all woke up on the 23rd March 2020 none of us could really understand how our whole world was about to change forever. We were all suddenly given a focus, a spotlight on our lives and the world we live in because of a global crisis. This body of work was born out of this experience and fact, but is not lead by it. I don’t see this as a lockdown collection. I see it as a sketch book of thoughts, observations, emotions and rethinkings born during our 65 weeks of national lockdowns.”
Described by the popular artist as his “most personal collection”, you can read more about 65 Weeks on our or shop the artist’s full portfolio .
